Staff Profile – Cliona Ni Mhurchu – Area Manager

How long have you worked for Tedcastles Oil Products? 

I have worked for Top Oil since 1998. I began temping as PA to the Chief Executive in Head Office in Dublin after taking a year out travelling. This was a very enjoyable yet challenging role and after a few months I accepted a permanent role.

After two years I wanted to see how the business worked at the front end. I also expressed an interest to move west, where I’m from. As the company was expanding they were able to accommodate my request. I spent one year training in various depots around the country and then took on the role of Depot Manager in Castlebar in 2000.

Where are you based?

Currently I am Area Manager for Top Oil in Mayo – managing our company owned forecourts and fuel depots in Belmullet, Ballina, Claremorris and Castlebar. In the last 10 years in Mayo we have grown from a single oil depot to one of the largest oil distribution businesses in the County. TOP now employs over 30 staff in this region. My role involves the management of every aspect of the business locally – sales & marketing, finance, distribution, operations, personnel, health and safety and administration.

What was your greatest achievement in the last year?

We recently celebrated the successful launch of two of our new businesses in Mayo. This was the culmination of many months of hard work for everyone involved. To see customers, colleagues, friends and family come together to celebrate the day gave me a great sense of achievement.

And outside the office?

I enjoy running, cycling and mountain climbing and of course spending quality time with my family.
